After twenty five years in EMS it is time for a change. I've done most of the things one would do with a helicopter over the last forty some years but I've never done the off shore thing. Any insights would be very appreciated.

If you like to fly, it's all flat, wet, and mostly you'll be working with people who know which end of the helicopter's which. You could be flying max crew duty days, or not. You report, you fly, you finish the paperwork and you crash for 10 hours- repeat until end of hitch. Then, you go home and you forget it.
Did PHI for 13 years, left in '97, and very satisfied. I would got back to that situation without second thoughts. No BS in maintenance, training, or safety. Scheduling, being closer to customer irrationality, could be tricky but they were very reasonable as a whole, and I was glad they took the heat of the interface.

Flying offshore is pretty much as devil 49 stated. Air Logistics is in my opinion by far one of the better companies in the gulf.

Hey guys,

I am 52 and am in medical device sales.  I am looking to beging my helicopter pilots training.  Is it crazy at my age to even think I could get my licenses and gain employment in this business?

Thanks in advance for any input.
