PHPA Local 102 General Membership Meeting

The meeting was called to order at 6:30 PM by President Steve Rush.  All officers were present.  There were twenty members present.

Recording Secretary Dave Oltmans  read the January meeting minutes and they were approved as read.

Secretary-Treasurer Richard White read the Treasurer's report for January and it was approved as read.

Officer Reports

Trustees:

Primary Division:  Jim Guy reported that senior IPs have been asked/scheduled to give checkrides and wanted to know if this practice was authorized by the CBA.  Primary has been behind in its syllabus due to the recent inclement weather.

     Advanced Division:  No report.

BWS Division:  Rick Boylston commented that BWS inherited 5.4 unfunded hours from Primary, 3.2 of which was initially dropped by Ft. Rucker.  The remaining 2.2 hours is also going away.  The bad weather plus these additional hours has put BWS behind syllabus, the time being made up by QAE flights.  This is an authorized way to get back to syllabus.

Trustee-at-Large:  Rod George reminded everybody to turn in their flight negotiations surveys as he will be compiling the results.  The larger the sample the more accurately the positions of the bargaining unit can be ascertained.

Vice-President:  Ron Arsenault reported that the Company safety council meeting would be held on February 15th.

President:  Steve Rush on ...

Old Business

Disability Insurance:  Steve informed the membership that the CIGNA long term disability insurance has been cancelled effective 1 April 2011.  Scott Allison is still working on a replacement for us, but our demographics/size of the group works against us.  There might be a possibility of joining the Company plan if we cannot find an alternate program.

Scholarship Applications:  Applications need to be submitted NLT March 31st.  This scholarship cycle is more competitive with there being few scholarships.  This means that the submitted packets need to be vetted to make sure that all required material is included.  Incomplete packets will not make it beyond the first cut.  The memorial scholarship for Hugh Neenan's son is still being put together.  The idea is that it will be separate from the annual offerings.

Negotiations Surveys:  The negotiations surveys are a valuable tool, but it must be remembered that the results of the survey will be held close to our vests.  There is no valid argument to share the results with the general membership since any disclosure can be used by the other side against our strategy.

New Business

     New Items:  None to discuss.

Discussion

There being no further business, the meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
